Shawan Downs, located in Northern Baltimore County, is a premier equestrian center, featuring a state-of-the-art steeplechase course. Established by the Land Preservation Trust, Shawan Downs is situated on 300 acres of former farmland in Cockeysville, Maryland. It was founded to preserve the landscape’s agricultural legacy while building a new tradition of equestrian events that benefit local charities.

2013 is Here and we are hard at work planning another great year! We hope you'll join us at Shawan Downs this Spring for our series of events.

Before we move too far into 2013, we want to take a moment to look back at 2012 - another successful year at Shawan Downs. Beginning with the Green Spring Valley Point to Point in March and culminating with the Legacy Chase weekend in September, Shawan Downs hosted more visitors than ever before — many of which were visiting the property for the first time. The increased partnership with GBMC HealthCare in the planning of the Legacy Chase proved to be a great success and has left us eager to for 2013!

Land Preservation

The Land Preservation Trust, Inc. assists Baltimore County landowners in protecting their land for future generations by facilitating voluntary conservation and agricultural easements. The Trust demonstrates its commitment to the stewardship of the land at Shawan Downs a first-class equestrian center and steeplechase course owned and operated by the Trust.
